Bakery & Catering

The Kingswood Centre Bakery/Catering provides essential employment preparation training to clients. Clients working in this program area are gaining hands-on skills in kitchen arts and are learning transferrable skills to future employment situations. Clients working in this section may also have part-time jobs in the Community and take great pride in producing a quality product. Customized orders are accepted and goods prepared are also for sale at the Kingswood Retail Outlet located at the Down East Mall.

In addition to seasonal items such as jams, pickles, salsas; orders can also be placed for luncheon or special events.

Bakery

The Kingswood Centre Teaching Bakery is a dedicated facility for individuals with intellectual and/or dual disabilities, providing specialized training in the culinary arts. This program focuses on equipping clients with practical, hands-on experience in baking and kitchen operations. Through personalized instruction and support, clients learn essential baking techniques, food safety practices, and teamwork skills. The bakery environment fosters a sense of accomplishment and independence, empowering clients to develop transferable skills that can be applied to future employment opportunities in the food industry. Additionally, participants take pride in their work, contributing to the production of high-quality baked goods enjoyed by the community. Also offering a selection of ready-made freezer meals in single or family sizing.

Catering

The Kingswood Centre Catering Program operates as both a teaching initiative and a service offering off-site and on-site catering through the rental of the Rotary Community Room. This program is designed specifically for individuals with intellectual and/or dual disabilities, focusing on providing comprehensive training in catering and event management.

Participants in the program gain hands-on experience in various aspects of catering, including menu planning, food preparation, presentation, and customer service. They learn essential skills such as food safety, kitchen organization, and teamwork, preparing them for potential careers in the hospitality industry.
